Julia and her best friend Katie's baby cousin Chloe were diagnosed with cancer just months apart from each other, and fighting together has given them hope.
After months of severe pain in Julia's right hip, and MRI was finally ordered and showed a tumor. On December 7th, 2015, Julia was diagnosed with a childhood bone cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma at age 22. She was in the middle of her clinical year as a Physician Assistant student.
Feeling so scared of the unknown, her best friend from high school, Katie, who is also a childhood cancer survivor, made sure she knew she was never alone. From sending flowers to her hospital room, to making care packages, to the simple message "you are never alone, no one fights alone" she made Julia's fight that much easier. Katie was diagnosed with AML in 2006 and now 10 years later is helping her best friend through her own fight. Katie is now a pediatric nurse at the hospital she was treated at. It is the most beautiful and magical friendship.
On June 17th 2015, 7 months into Julia's fight, Katie's sweet little cousin, Chloe, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 9 months old. It was a shock to everyone, and was extremely hard considering Julia's current diagnosis. But we knew we had to rally, and that's what we did. Katie has been a rock and incredible support for both Julia and for Chloe. Chloe and Julia have grown so close, the connection will now be for a lifetime.
