Ways to Wear a Headscarf Headband
As one of the most versatile accessories out there today, headscarves have earned their place as one of this Spring’s biggest fashion trends. While headscarves and scarf headbands are not necessarily a new fashion accessory, there are plenty of new and fun ways to use them, from hair ties to neck scarves and even purse accessories! Plus, just like our headbands and hair ties, when you purchase a scarf headband from Headbands of Hope, we’ll donate a headband to a child with an illness, making it easy to look your best while doing good for others!
Today, we’ll show you five of our favorite ways to tie a headscarf for a quick and easy chic look for any occasion!
How to Wear a Headscarf 5 Different Ways
1. Around Your Ponytail
Warmer weather calls for ponytails, and a scarf is a perfect way to dress yours up! There is no right or wrong way to tie a scarf around your ponytail or braid, as long as it looks cute!
How to tie a headscarf around your ponytail: Pictured above is the Marvelous Miss Camel & White Scarf folded in half, then folded again several times and tied into a knot around the ponytail. Look at how cute our Paisley Princess Scarf looks in a high pony, and how well the Marvelous Miss Navy & Red complements this casual side pony.
2. As a Neck Scarf
This classic European-chic look is a great way to add a sophisticated edge to your outfit. You can wear it with the knot tied to the side or with the knot in the back.
How to wear a headscarf as a neck scarf:
Front knot style: Fold the scarf into a triangle, roll it up, and place it around your neck with both ends hanging loose in front of you. Cross ends and tie into a knot. Loosen or tighten the knot as you please!
Back knot style: Fold the scarf into a triangle and place it around your neck with both ends hanging loose behind you. Cross ends and tie into a knot. We think this gorgeous Preppy Paisley Scarf would look great, no matter what way you choose to wear it!
3. As a Headband
We have yet to see a scarf headband style we didn’t like! Scarf headbands can be folded as thick or thin as you want, and tied into cute knots or bows. Scarf headbands look fantastic with hair that’s up or down, so go ahead and discover your new favorite look!
How to tie a scarf as a headband: Fold the scarf into a triangle and fold it over to your desired thickness. Then, place the scarf headband under your hair, with loose ends sticking up on the side of your head. Tie into your desired knot style at the top or off to the side, as seen with our Paisley Princess Scarf Headband!
4. As a Bandana
Nothing says “return of the 90s/early 2000s” quite like a bandana headband! Whether you want to channel your inner Torrance Shipman or just want to change up your look, a bandana scarf headband can make it happen. The best part about the bandana look is that it gives you the coverage you need on a bad hair day while looking totally cute!
How to wear a headscarf as a bandana headband: Fold the scarf into a triangle and place onto the top of your head, tying at the base of the back of your head. Pull out some strands of hair in the front and let the rest flow down your back, or tuck it all into your scarf headband for uninterrupted vision while working around the house!

5. As a Purse Accessory
Add a stylish accent to your purse or beach bag with a scarf! Bonus, you have it on hand to pull your hair back later on in the day!
